Safeguarding Messages for Clients

To our dear clients, 

Welcome to VisionFund Tanzania! As World Vision’s microfinance provider, central to everything we do is our commitment to Do No Harm. Know that we treat all people with respect and dignity. Our Safeguarding Policy calls us to prevent, report and respond to harm or abuse against any child, any adult, including our clients caused by our staff and those affiliated with us. This means that we put priority to your safety and ensure that our staff, partners, products and services do not harm you.

You can expect good conduct from VisionFund Tanzania staff and affiliates. We must never:
× Never behave in an inappropriate physical manner
× Never kiss, touch, hold, hug, fondle any child or adult, including clients in an inappropriate or culturally insensitive way
× Never use mean words or abusive language
× Never develop a sexual relationship with a client or any adult living where VisionFund Tanzania has an operational presence
× Never develop a sexual relationship with a child
× Never exchange money, loan, goods, employment or services for sex
× Never take a child alone in a vehicle for VisionFund Tanzania work
× Never spend excessive or unnecessary time alone with a child or client
× Never hit, shout, humiliate a child or client
× Never hire children in any form of child labor
× Never misuse or be careless with personal data about customers or clients
× Never communicate via mobile technology or via digital platforms in ways that are inappropriate or sexual
× Never stay silent, cover up, or enable any known or suspected abuse or harm caused by VFT staff
× Never exchange inclusion in VFT services for any kind of favor from the community

We also care about your privacy: 

✓ All your personal data is kept safe and protected. 

✓ VisionFund websites, domains and social media platform profile pages contain reporting options for
safeguarding incidents.


You can report and seek help.
We will listen to you. You have the right to complain and to report any inappropriate behavior or sexual misconduct by a VisionFund staff or anyone connected to us.
You can report through:
❑ Integrity and Protection Hotline or the Whistleblower Hotline at http://worldvision.ethicspoint.com or
❑ Email safeguarding@wvi.org or
❑ contact the local reporting number of the nearest VisionFund Tanzania branching your area or with any other reporting ways provided by VisionFund Tanzania.

VisionFund Tanzania will stand with you and do our best to maintain confidentiality for any report you make. We will respond, listen, and act – we will always investigate any reported misconduct or abuse and make sure that those who are harming you are held to account. Your safety is our priority!  

B. What behaviour clients can expect from VFT staff and affiliates and on how they can submit feedback and complaints, including reporting safeguarding breach.

If you witness an incident that puts a client, child, or someone else at risk, or see concerning behavior from a VisionFund staff member, please don’t hesitate to report it.

D. Preventing harm for clients bringing their children to VFT activities or when visiting branches

To our valued clients, 

We wish to remind you about your responsibility to ensure the safety of your children when bringing them in VisionFund activities or visiting our branches. Please be reminded of your obligation to keep them safe at all times, as they may be exposed to harm such as security concerns, accidents, injuries and any untoward incident including physical or sexual abuse while they are with VisionFund staff. 

If you witness an incident that puts you or your child at risk or if you see concerning behavior from a VisionFund staff member and those connected to us, please don’t hesitate to report it.
